To keep the 2110cc engine tied in, I need to have an intermedaite gearbox mount...
testfitting the base plate
Welded on the support
Testfitting the Splitscreens nosecone on the chassis. This is needed to mount the 1303gearbox on an old chassis. Fits nice!
Still a litle bit of mods needed on the chassis legs to clear the CV joint.
Started cutting up the ovals chassis.
Created a template to know where to cut for the IRS mounts
BIG HOLE! I had to reroute the mechanical brake cable tube a bit
Positioning the IRS bracket
Both of them positionned, ready for welding
Checking the JIG on an original beetles IRS chassis
And then I started removing the IRS mounts...
Both of them removed and cleaned
Finally I got some time to convert the chassis from Straight Axle to IRS (I want to use a 1303S gearbox with the Porsche 944arms and diskbrakes)
Gone is the gearbox:-)
